After School Program: Don't Forget About Us

As you saw in our previous post, students at our Saturday Chinese School are able to use computers to learn Chinese in a modern way by using technology and computers.  Our after school program also has a Chinese program, which is part of our curriculum everyday.  Don't worry we didn't forget about our students at our after school program.  Students at our after school program are learning how to type Chinese by using Pinyin.  This is an invaluable skill that not only strengthens both their Pinyin and traditional character recognition but also bridges a language as old as Chinese with our modern computer age.  By being able to type in Chinese many of our students are able to break down language barriers and connect with people they otherwise would not be able to.

Cloverly Chinese Learning

Digital Chinese Learning 全美中文學院學生上课和老師進修實况

Twenty five years ago most people had never heard of the internet.  Today, computers and the internet have become everyday tools in our lives.  It is only natural to incorporate computers into the way we learn and absorb new material.  By using computers to teach Chinese to our students we allow them to learn Chinese in a way that they can relate and identify with.  Since technology is constantly changing, AA Academy is constantly training teachers in the latest digital technology and tools.  By doing so, we empower our teachers with the ability to teach Chinese in a way that can relate to the 21st century.  Learning a language enables students to communicate with more people.  Computers eliminate physical and distance boundaries.  By coupling Chinese with computer aided learning, students will be able to connect and communicate with an additional 1.3 billion who use Chinese as their daily language.

Lunar New Year: Year of the Dragon

The beginning of a lunar new year is the most important holiday within Chinese culture.  Our students learned about the story of Nian and what this holiday means to the Chinese.  We held an assembly on February 4 to showcase the lion dance and also to recognize winners of our Chinese Story Recital Competition.  Of course, each student received a red envelope to celebrate the lunar new year.  AA Academy hopes the year of the dragon brings you prosperity and good health.
